Broke a Tranny Mount!!

Well like the title says I broke a tranny mount(3rd time I have done this). In the past I have always had someone replace it for me, but this time I wanna try and do it myself. How hard is it to replace? can I do it with a jack/ jackstands? Will I need any specially tools? Also Im leaving to drive home to FL for Christmas in about an hour is it ok to drive 600 miles with it broke?

thanks in advance
Kevin

Re: Broke a Tranny Mount!!

it doesnt take very long, u should probably do it before u leave

jack and jackstands, and basic sockets should be all u need

the tranny mount uses one bolt for the crossmember, and two bolts for the tranny

at least mine does, and all the tranny mounts are similar in design

use the jack to hold the tranny up, and if u can just drop the crossmember by removing the 4 bolts you would be better off

it doesnt take long and isnt very hard
i would do it before putting 600 miles on the car

Re: Broke a Tranny Mount!!

make sure to fix that before floring the car to prevent damage. he pretty much summed it up. its an easy fix. to prevet it from happening again however you need to get a polyurothane (spelling?) mount instead of the stock rubber. the stronger material will be harder to rip.

kevin,

it aint hard...jack stands or two jacks are required. and if you can afford it get a energy suspension one. i broke the stock one 3 times too.
