Broke ANOTHER Mcleod Clutch disk.
Broke ANOTHER Mcleod Clutch disk.
Last Fall i put in a mcleod regular street disk with a lt4 pressure plate. A month later the center section cracked. Exchanged it with mcleod and got their 7500 rpm dual friction disk. Works great, but the other day i started gettting a funny noise after i romped it a little bit. Pulled the tranny today to find two broken springs in the center section of the clutch.
What kind of disk can i try next with the lt4 pressure plate?

Re: Broke ANOTHER Mcleod Clutch disk.
Spec stage 4. I just installed that disc and reused my SLP PP, which is just a lightened LT4 PP. The stage 4 has a solid center section, no springs to break. It might be a little hard on your rear though, it looks like you have a 10 bolt. I went with the stage 4 carbon disc, it really engages pretty smooth, very little chatter. I was surprised how nice it engages. I would try either that or an LT4 disc, no springs on that either. FYI though, I used an LT4 disc originally with my SLP PP and got lots of chatter when pulling out with it. I actually removed it after just 1000 miles. It seems to work ok for some people though, didnt work well for me.
Re: Broke ANOTHER Mcleod Clutch disk.
I put a lot of street miles on my car, so i think i am going to go with the LT4 disk. I should get a decent amount of milage out of it with just regular street use.
