Flywheel Problem? Intermittently 'Bouncing' on take off.

I've got this strange issue going on, and want to get some opinions before I look into it.

I just did a bunch of work to the car, including a clutch job. I installed a factory flywheel, a McCleod clutch disc (7200 shift), and a Spec pressure plate. Also installed an Advanced Auto (Pioneer brand) tranni mount.

Well, the car has driven great for about a week, and then all of a sudden, on the way home from work one day last week, it start jumping really bad coming off a stop. At 1st, I thought something was wrong with the clutch (kind of felt like bad clutch chatter), but the next day it was fine again driving into work.

It seems this issue only shows itself when the weather gets hot outside. In the mornings it's pretty cool out, and drives fine. By the time I leave work, it's pretty hot out and the bucking begins. I suppose this is why it was fine for the 1st week, because it was pretty cool that week. It feels like the rear end is jumping up and down, and if I slip the clutch a lot when it's happening, I can get it to take off smoother.

Any ideas here? My 1st thought is maybe the torque arm mount is bad, and softens up when it gets hot allowing the rear to jump when taking off. Once I am in 1st and going, there is no more shake or bouncing through any of the gears with any amount of throttle.

I plan to climb underneath and check out the torque mount, tranni mount, controls arms, and anything else I can think of.

Anyone else ever have this problem? Any help, advice, suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Thomas.

Re: 'Bouncing' on take off in warm weather?

I checked out the front torque arm mount, and it looks fine.

This problem seems to be prety intermittent now. It was acting up last night on the way home, so maybe it's not related to warm weather?

Could this be bad motor mounts? Any ideas at all?

Someone told me this is a sign of a flywheel problem. Do you guys agree? Wouldn't a flywheel issues show itself all the time, and not intermittently?

I think it's your SPEC pressure plate.....I've heard that particular one is cursed

LOL, maybe I should return it for a refund

I can't believe nobody has any information/advice for this type of problem? I drove the Z into work this morning, and it drove great! No shaking or bouncing starting off in 1st. I'm sure by the time I drive home, when the outside temps are up, it will give me problems

did you get the flywheel resurfaced or was it a new factory flywheel?

Re: 'Bouncing' on take off in warm weather?

when I installed the SLP LT4 clutch kit, I had the stock flywheel resurfaced.

Recently, one of the springs on the SLP disc broke free from the clutch disc housing, but did not come completely out. When I removed it, there wasn't any contact marks on the flywheel surface, and it was driving fine before I removed it, so I just resurfaced the flywheel with some over the counter surfacing discs on my die grinder and replaced the disc.

My 1st thought was a flywheel issue, but wouldn't it be an issue all the time, and not only when it's hot outside? Yesterday, the car ran fine to work and back home (we had a cold front blow in yesterday ... never got above low 80s)

Thanks,
Thomas.
