That bolt in overdrive sounds pretty cool...
That bolt in overdrive sounds pretty cool...
So I was at the bookstore the other day and noticed an article in Camaro Performers Magazine and noticed they had an article about a bolt in overdrive for the 4L60E. Does anyone have any further information about this? It would seem like a good performance upgrade since it splits each gear into two gears?
Re: That bolt in overdrive sounds pretty cool...
There was a thread about the Camaro Performer article, and the Gear Vendors O/D unit about a month ago.....

Re: That bolt in overdrive sounds pretty cool...
I've never read anything BAD about Gear Vendors other than the PRICE!!!
It would be nice to split gears, add OD to a 3-speed tranny, etc., but for over $2g's!!!

...just get a 6-speed!!

The alternative to the GV unit is the US Gear V2OD. It can't split gears and it only fits TH350s, TH400s, C4s and C6s, but I think it would be excellent to switch between street gearing and strip gearing.
Nobody splits gears with the GV in an FBody. Maybe guys driving heavier motorhomes or light trucks towing going uphill do the gear slitting.
I think there's testimonials like the www.gearvendors.com site
I wanted to put an overdrive in a chevelle 25 years ago when I was a poor student. I think there was something available for about 12-1500.00
Now that I'm am older fart the GV lets me do it on a 4L60 using their light truck kit.
An M6 would be cheaper or about the same as what the GV cost me installed (2700.00, not cheap to make an A5) and give compareable gearing ratios, but I've had 10 stick cars and vehicles and
it was all a lot of fun over the years, but now I prefer driving an automatic and not have to shift all the time.
