Unhappy Body Sag

Before I bought my '94z it was fish-tailed sideways into a median. I almost have the money saved for the bodywork - just the quarter and rocker. The problem is when the wheel was hit it shifted the rear towards the drivers side. This is noticable when you look down the side of the car, but only if your looking for it. I had it on the alignment rack at vo-tech and have it aligned pretty good. The rear angle is only a little out of spec. It drives straight and there is no excessive tire wear. It just looks ugly from the back the way it tilts. Obviously the body sags to the passenger side since the rear is in further on that side. I was thinking I could get an adj. panhard bar and adj. it so the rear is even. Do you think that would be a good fix or could there be something else wrong? I think that the panhard bar is the only thing that will bend because the control arms will just shift. The body sags a good deal...probably 1'' - 2''. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Nathan

I think everyone that owns a Camaro has noticed that the right rear sits lower than the left. Some believe it is engineered in to account for driver weight, others think it is GM lousy bulid tolerances. That said, 1-2 inch is quite a bit. Mine is down by only 1/4 inch. I can hardly imagine how adjusting the PH bar is going to get rid of that large a sag. Sorry. I'd be looking for something else.

On lowered camaros an adj. panhard bar is used to re-center the rear in the car. I was thinking that even though mines not lowered the rear is still shifted to the drivers side and the adj. panhard bar will bring it back. The reason it sags is the extra weight from the rear being off-center.

If you're not lowered and you're rear is shifted by a good bit, I don't think your problem would be fixed by the PH bar unless the one you have is bent. You should try eye balling yours or measuring it, before you spend money on something that won't fix your problem. I can't say what the length is supposed to be precisely, but I know it is right around 40 inches.

I'm not sure of any other way the rear would be shifted over besides if the panhard bar is bent...or possibly the mount. Thanks for your replies

The rear sitting of to one side is not causing the sag. The sag could be causing the rear to be sitting off to the side.
Go to the junk yard and get another set of rear springs. Then you can mix and match 'till you get 2 that will level the car.
And I don't see why an adjustable PH bar wouldn't do just fine at centering the axle to the body. But get some springs and get it level first because the height of the rear effects the position of the upper PH bar mount and therefore the position of the axle relative to the body.

Thanks AL....looking at it the other way around makes sense also. If I have different springs on each side wouldn't the car handle differently though? I'm not worried about a little difference as long as its not excessive. Thanks again....can't wait to see it sit straight.
