Re: bleeding a clutch

no one answered my question about my clutch on my 87, but i hope i can help you

is it a master/slave unit, or are master and slave seperate units?

it seems my clutch is one unit, i was filling it up with fluid and pump the clutch till all air bubbles left, but thats when i discovered my slave wasnt sealing

according to my chiltons manual, it comes as one unit pre-bled from the factory
according to my haynes manual u just have to tilt the slave at an angle so the bleeder plug (tiny little thing with an allen key opening) is in the air, open it up and have someone press and hold the clutch till u close the plug

i have not tried this because my seal wont hold, but it doesnt seem right to me anyway because pressing the clutch pedal when the slave is not attached to the bellhousing seems to be the cause of slave cylinder failure

i think thats what happened with mine, my brother or someone must have hit the clutch when i pulled the motor out, and the pressure pushed the snap ring half out, so the seal isnt fully sealing, and this snap ring is a b*itch to get back in, when i do get it in i dont even know if it will still seal
