Big problem, i think with the driveshaft.. Need help
Big problem, i think with the driveshaft.. Need help
When i accelerate hard in first there is a loud banging. I think this could be a driveshaft problem, i'm not sure though. The loud banging shakes the entire car and i can feel the shifter **** shaking. It's only happened twice, once while accelerating hard in first, then i gunned it a 2nd time to confirm that, that was the reason After that i just parked my car for the time being. I have no experience with drivetrains or anything of the sort.
I have a 88 Camaro Iroc-z 350

i kind of doubt its the driveshaft, but check it for out of round. dial indicator, ramps and a helper can accomplish a simple runout check. sounds like you could possibly have an older worn out rear end with some extra play in it. also check to make sure your lower control arm bolts are tight before u mess with much. to much backlash or end play could be your problem, however it could be a host of drivetrain problems. experiment with the problem and give us more info if you could. it wont kill the car. try it turning, try doing burnouts, etc.

It's to late to tear up and down the streets, i can do it tomorrow and ill get back to you, and my buddy said it could possibly be a universal joint... not sure myself though
Are you sure though, i don't think doing a burnout would be wise. Anything above 2500 rpms in first and the car starts banging... it's hard to describe the sound... to put it into words would be "HOLY ****" It's very loud and it sounds like the car is about to die some horrible painful death... haha
But once i'm past 30-40 mph i can gun it as much as i want with no problems. It seems like once a certain amount of pressure is on the rear end it starts popping. i don't know though i have ZERO experience with rear ends/drive trains... for all i know it could be anything ><

Today after work i took some pretty hard turns and it made the popping sound, i wasn't even on the gas. Another thing, while driving i hit a small pot hole going about 35 and it popped once... Then I did a burnout.... everything went fine no problems at all.... i hope this helps ><
