Question Big bang when punched (automatic)

Well i just test drove a 1996 automatic z28 and there is a BIG bang when you punch it from a 10mph roll, the tranny shifts great and if not being punched, theres no bang. It sounds like its coming from the rear end, but the owner thinks its the tranny? Any ideas??????

could be tranny backlash or maybe a little too much play somewhere in your drivetrain...i have a 97 auto that i think does the same as what your talkin about.

Re: Big bang when punched (automatic)

man that be great, sence the car doesnt do it when normal driving easy, the seller failed to mention it hopes that it wouldnt be punched in a residential area. So he tried to screw me, he thinks its the transmission itself, but hes willing to deduct for the bang now so i can get it super cheap (i could replace the tranny and would still be getting a great deal), and really he deserves it i think for trying to hide it! Anyways so can anyone think, or has had anything happen that it could be the rear end or the tranny????

Re: Big bang when punched (automatic)

poly mounts suck, they are string, but vibrate terrible. At least on my car. I took it out and put a factory rubber mount back in. Probably won't last long . LOL.

Re: Big bang when punched (automatic)

i have poly and do not notice the shaking... i broke 3 rubber and put poly on now its fixed for good. call a tranny shop and ask how much it cost to rebuild for that camaro. then tell the seller what he said. this will help get the price down. then tell him the car is gonna be down for a week so then you won't be able to drive it. then say with the tranny broke its apparent that you coule have abused the car so your thinking about not even buying it.

this is gonna get you the car cheap........ then you have $$$ to make it faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
