Best Tranny fluid

Hey guys I am thinking of changin my tranny fluid. Last time I changed it was about 3 years ago.

Question 1. Whats the best procedure to replace all the tranny fluid? Last time they hooked it up to a machine and turned the engine on but I have my doubts about that procedure... First of all I have no idea whant kinda fluid they are adding to my tranny. secondly I swear it looked like they were just filtering the fluid cause I dont recall any container conected to that machine... just the stand alone manchine and my car so I highly doubt they eve used the appropriate fluid to begin with..

Also while in first gear I notice the RPM increase faster than the vehicle speed... I doubt my first gear clutch is sliping... I am thinking more in the terms of cavitation in the Torque converter due to low quality Tranny fluid.

2 question...How can i replace the fluid completely? I mean even the one inside the converter?

Thanks for your info...Tranny looks good feels good and I noticed its very consistent in the RPMs to vehicle speed range.. but I am still concerned about the building up of RPMs quicker than the car is acceletating.... Its minor though.

2 ways of changing your fluid

1 you can drop your pan and drain your fluid and fill it back up, this gets out all the fluid except what is in the torque convertor.

2 when the hook it up to the machine it is supposed to change all the fluid even whats is in the TC.

how many miles was it since your complete change 3 years ago? hows the fluid look on the dipstick? should be nice red color, shouldnt smell burnt at all... anyways probly a good time for you to drop the pan and clean that up and put a new filter and gasket on it, fill it up with a good tranny fluid, mobil one, valvoline... also clean the bottom of your pan really good, and take the magnet off and clean that up too, i would install a drain plug in it to if you have not done so already, good luck

Checked the fluid today. Its clean more like light red colored and has no smell. I found that strange though. I get no smell from the tranny fluid. Maybe just my nose.

It has 25k miles more since I dropped the pan and changed the filter... and about 23 k miles since I had her put in the flushing machine cause I knew I had not gotten all the old fluid out.

I will have a mechanic drop that pan and change the filter/clean the magnet this time around... it got pretty nasty when I did with the car on jackstands... I promised to myself never to do it again (even got fluid on my hair).

thanks for the reply.
