Best Shift Point?

How can you tell from a dyno graph what the best shift point would be for your car?

It's easier to show it grahically than to explain it. You want maximum area under the torque curve. By superimposing the torque curves in each gear, shift points can be easily estimated visually. Look at http://wahiduddin.net/race/dynotest.htm to see what I mean.

Ok, I'm with you so far I think, but you don't want to do it too soon or you end up too low in the RPM's right? Which means you have to go past the peak x amount. How do you determine the value of x?

One method is to make a graph like the one in the link. Then you simply shift at the rpm represented by where the lines cross.
