best rearend gear?

best rearend gear?

ok so im looking to have a rear end put in my car. local shop say about 200 plus parts..they said the use Richmond or another one like American racing or something,they said Richmond gears are strong but loud and the other ones are quiet. does this sound about right?

Sounds about like what it costs around here to have one setup. Not sure about the American Racing gears, but I do know the Richmond ones are louder.

Motive gears are quieter... But everyone has their favorite....

i mean is a Richmond like obnoxiously loud or is it just barely noticeable...im more worried about strength and reliability than anything. is motive pretty popular too?

The sound is not really indicative of the quality or strength.
Motive or Strange are usually quieter.

I used Motive in mine and they are as quiet as stock. Did it myself and I've never done an install before. $200 to install a set of gears is a pretty good price.
