4L60E Identification

I am contemplating rebuilding a 4L60E for my daughter's 94Z and would like to know how to identify a 93 from a 94 from a 95 from a 96, etc. Ideally I would like to rebuild one from a 94Z so that everything matches up. I suspect the current slipping transmission is not originally from this Camaro. Is there any way to quickly identify it while still in the car? That way I can get a trans that matches the car and rebuild it, while still babying the slipping one.

Thanks everyone. I have gained quite a bit of knowledge from perusing this site.
