Best place to get a 4l60e built

I have come to the point where i need to buid my trans... Where is the best place to go to to get my trans to handle 530rwhp.... The trans will not shift now on the nitrous from 2nd to 3rd it just hits the rev limiter but if i let off the it will shift.. ... But N/A it shifts fine.... Any suggestions would be great... I want to stay with overdrive for now...

i couldn't find a breakdown on rossler's 4L60's. what makes them significant. i checked out FLP, TeamTripp, Pro-Built and Performance Auto and Trans Center. they all have some things in common, though wide range in prices. what elements are necessary to bulletproof the A4 as best as it can get?

I was told trying to buff up a 4l60e is as pointless as trying to buff up our stock 10 bolts. A waste of money and time. I would just get a th400 personially, im actually haveing one built now.

Re: Best place to get a 4l60e built

Hey I think you PMd me about this a while ago..Anyway, Rossler does, or used to do all of LPEs transmission work. Mine lasted for 4 years with 420rwhp. The one I have now from Dr. Trans shifts way better than Rosslers ever did. And is supposed to handle 700fwhp. I'm not a trans guy, but the list of hi-po stuff in mine now is huge, including 5 gear planetaries front and rear, heavy duty shell, kevlar lined bigger bands, a billet servo with 40% more apply....Also give Eric Shertz at Dyno Tech a call. He is in NJ. Dr. Trans is in PA.

Re: Best place to get a 4l60e built

thanks alan! by switching to the 5 planetaries f&r, the trans is basically a 4L65E... just built w/ better than stock 65 stuff, including the planetaries. i've read that anything off-coast is substandard and that genuine stuff still falls inferior to aftermarket items, correct?
another query i had was the redline rating. is there any validity to the statements i've read that a 4L65 has a lower rpm max than the 4L60? thanks again for the feedback.

Re: Best place to get a 4l60e built

Hey Doug..I would ask your questions to either the guys at Rossler, Dyno Tech (Eric Shertz), or Dr. Trans...I'm not a transmission mechanic and it still mystifies me how all those little springs, fluid passages, and check ***** can harness tons of horsepower and torque! My trans was built buy Dr. Trans in Hanover, PA by Rick (owner) and Galen (master tech). Both are masters of the 700R4 and 4L60Es. GMHTP did a great article a while ago when they had Dyno Tech build their TGOW car's 4L60E...

Re: Best place to get a 4l60e built

I absolutely LOVED the 700R4 that Dana at Pro-built did for my '89 T/A. Seeing as how the 4l60E is dang similar, they will probably get the nod for the one in my '97 Formula shortly
