Smile Best clutch for the $$ 96 LT1 M56 head/cam/header swap---

I am looking for the best LT1 clutch setup for the money.

Ram HD "says" it'll hold 400HP?? ... Good Price
Centerforce seems good quality ... decent price
Mcleod Street Twin ... Great but too expensive.

This is for a head/cam/header swap upcoming.
I am guessing around 350rwhp/rwtq??

Anyone have a setup they'd like to sell?

Anyone have good mulitple experinece with these clutch setups?

I like my mcleod single disc rated for 7500rpm and a stock pressure plate. My last car had the same setup, as did my buddies car and they all seem to have worked out very well. They will hold the power and can hold decent launches. My clutch now has 20k on it and I launch the car with stock gears at 5k and the clutch does not slip. I have heard that all the lower end pressure plates are basically the same as stock, but if you want piece of mind you could purchase the mcleod pressure plate to go with the disc. I believe the disc is about $159 or so.

Sounds pretty good Do you know about what HP you or your friends car is putting out? Launching at 5K...WOW! That's pretty cool it's held up. What tires is that with?....Nitto's or Slicks?
Where did you buy it Jegs or Summit? I guess the stock flywheel was just turned? Thanks.

Dyno #'s with Jet Hot LT's and Scorpion 1.7 RR's 313.66/334.18 SAE Corrected

Oops... I just saw the HP ratings on yours. I guess that is with LT's and bolt on's?
I'll do a search for the Mcleod single disk.

I launch with slicks. My last car had a 306 and trapped 112 and the clutch held up great. My buddies car was running 12.4's cam only launching on slicks with the same setup and it dyno'd around 340rwhp. Never slipped. It is an awesome budget clutch with decent manners and holding power. I would say that the clutch would probably have no problem holding 400rwhp on a daily basis, but i doubt it will hold anything better than a 1.7 60' with that kind of power.

I run the McLeod twin disc in my car and I love it. I launch my car with nitrous at 5 grand with a Ford 9 inch, and ET streets. 1.50's 60 ft running high tens, low elevens. Oh the car is completely smog legal here in Calif.

I have a single disk mcleod, and my friend with an LT1 with a cc306 and a huge shot with m/t dr's has one and launches at 5K with it, and it doesn't slip on either of us, and drives pretty good.

Where's a good place to purschase one? Did you use the LT4 Press Plate & trowout bearing or Mcleod? And stock flywheel? I think I'm convinced the Mcleod single will work just fine. Anyone else try the Mcleod Single with a head cam combo?? Thanks ...

I have the SLP PP, which is just a lightened LT4. I was running the SLP clutch until I bent the clutch disk. I'm using the stock flywheel too.
