T56 Slave/Master fitting

Hi folks,

Is the fitting used on the T56 slave and master cylinders a standard fitting that's available somewhere? I need to make a custom length line and haven't been able to find a suitable fitting or adapter to connect up my stock '94 LT1 T56 slave to my aftermarket master. Someone posted a picture of a T56 Slave to -6AN adapter, but never said who makes it and he doesn't respond to emails...

Here's the picture:

If anyone has any information it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks!

*BUMP*

I'm going to try and take the my stock T56 line to a hydraulic shop to see what they can do for me, but I'm still interested in a T56->AN fitting if anyone knows.

Re: T56 Slave/Master fitting

I was never able to find an adaptor fitting. I ended up hacking the GM ends off a stock hose and TIG welding them on to a standard AN style fitting.

Hi Steve,

Thanks, I was considering that, but didn't want to cut the hose apart to find out it wasn't weldable. Since you had success with it, I'll move that option up near the top of my list.

Thanks!

Sort of. I really appreciate the link though. I clicked through some of the related topics (neat feature!), and came across the guy who hasn't returned my emails. Turns out he's a mod. Anyway, I searched his posts and found all the information I needed on the fitting. Here's the deal for those who are trying to do the same thing I was:

1. You can bore then tap the plastic slave. I'd thought of it, but was leery of going that route, looks like some others have done it with no problems.

2. You can buy the adapter fitting. In my searches I'd heard that Aeroquip made one, turns out MacLeod does as well. It's available by calling them (allegedly $40 a piece plus $20 handling), or you can order from Summit for $42 a piece (MCL-139026). It's listed as a brake fitting, but I am assured it's the male fitting that goes in the master/slave with roll pin.

3. Cutting the ends off of the factory line, and TIG welding them to a AN fitting of some kind.

and here's what I ended up doing yesterday:

4. Take the hoses that need to be mated or extended to a hydraulic shop and have them splice in an extension, or adapt in another line. This was the best option for me as I was adapting a Volvo M/C and hardline to the stainless t56 line. Even with the fitting I was looking for I still would have had to figure out a way to get the AN converted back to the stock Volvo thread (which no-one could identify).

Anyway, I like to post resolutions to my problems as it's likely someone else will have similar questions in the future, so there it is.

Good Luck, and thanks for the help!

How right you were... ran into this same issue on my T56/280Z install & am ordering from Summit anyway... Thanks!
