bearing going out question??

Has anyone else heard this??

If you have a wheel bearing going out and you get a vibration at 20 mph but goes away at a higher speed,, if you double the speed the vibration comes back. I was told this and it sounds kinda bogus but could be true???

I ask this because on my S10 I have a slight howl/groan when I am in the 20 to 40 km/hr range that goes away above 40 km/hr.

Does the sound change when you make left and right turns? Usually a bad wheel bearing will stop making noise when you turn one direction, but make noise the other direction or straight.
