Balancing Flywheel...Should I have done this?

I had never heard of anyone needing to re-balance a new flywheel when I did my trans swamp. I've been driving on my new flywheel for almost 10k w/ no apparent difference. I purchased it straight from a GM dealer. Was I suppose to have it balanced in comparison to my stock one? If I got it from GM and its for the LT1 does that mean its already balanced?

Note: I don't even know if that was my original one which I took off in the first place.

I am not sure what you are asking. But the stock flywheel has a counterweight as should a stock replacement. IOW, it is not neutral balanced. While a new one might be off a little compared to the original, you would probably be ok on a stock motor just replacing it with a stock replacement.

Thats what I wanted to know. I didnt know if the orignal would be a little off compared to the a stock replacment. But if it doesnt matter, screw it.
