Auto VS Manual clutches

This doesn't pertain to any specific car, or anything.. just transmissions in general.

Ok, so Manuals have a clutch, and automatics have clutchpacks
I have a few questions about this, for any professionals on this forum

What is the general life expactancies of the clutchpacks in an automatic VS the clutchpacks in a manual.

You don't really hear "clutchpack" problems, or anything, but you do hear about the clutch in a manual getting worn out, and needing replaced, unless when people talk about their auto transmissions slipping, is that always the clutchpacks going out, or is that related to something else?

I'm under the impression that manuals basically only really deal with the clutch wearing, which can go out relatively fast, under spirited driving.. and that, assuming no mods have been made to the car, that an automatic would outlast a manual in terms of general maintenance... and that you'd have to probably replace the clutch in a manual many times before you'd have to rebuild the auto tranny...

Thanks for any input

I like your analogy But typically clutches do wear out more rapidly than auto trannies need rebuilds. I have replaced a lot more clutches than I have rebuilt auto trannies.

well lets see.what are we normally harder on a manual clutch or clutch packs in an auto tranny.easy,we are normally harder on a manual clutch when drag racing, unless your a very risky person who like to neutral drop then you will be asking for internal tranny problems such as clutch packs.clutch packs are basically used for driving or holding parts of the planetary gear set.all in all,i see way more automatic trannys with problems which are way more complex and have more parts, than i see manual trannys with problems.
