Auto tranny break in Question

I should have my new beefed up 4L60 E that I ordered online installed my Sat. morning. My question is, what should the break in consist of? How long should I wait to pounce on it? Anything in particular I should do to propeerly break everything in safely? BTW, there is also a new converter going in at the same time. Thanks in advance.

This is a fully rebuilt beefed up 4L60E just FYI

Re: Auto tranny break in Question

i just had mine redone fully rebuilt and beefed up probly somethin similar to yours, and the guy i asked about break-in said itld be fine to jump on whenever i was ready, but mines already being torn back into so there probly is some kind of break-in period... hope you have better luck than i did, and im curious to know this too, so when i get it back this time it doesnt screw up again...

Re: Auto tranny break in Question

the guy that did mine told me to drive around the block a couple times then stop and check for leaks and check the fluid again and then to drive around town for a day or two (put a hundred miles or more on) so it would shift through all the gears many times then after that he told me to drop the bomb and see what it would do!! i dont know if that is a proper break in or not but i would say it couldnt hurt to be kinda nice for a day or two.

Re: Auto tranny break in Question

sounds better than take her around the corner and let her rip if you feel like it *shrug* im probly gonna go easy on mine for about 500 miles this time, maybe proper engine break in is also for the transmission! think about that one

There is NO breaking in a new or rebuilt Transmission!

Once the Transmission fluid is warmed up, it's safe to pounce on it!

Re: Auto tranny break in Question

Thanks for the reply's...I think I will probably drive it around really easy for the first hundred miles or so, then slowly get into it more and more for the next hundred or so....thoughts
