Auto or Manual?

I just bought a 2000 Camaro SS however it is an automatic transmission. I have no problem with it and people tell me in some ways it is better than a manual. My friends are telling me to get a manual and it does sound appealing because I always wanted a stick Camaro and i basically wanted to know what would be the advantages/disadvantages and what parts am i looking to purchase in order to complete the swap.

There isn't a right or wrong with this issue, basically it’s all about personal preference (what you want to do with your car) and a few factors to consider in your decision.

If you “really enjoy” popping the clutch and jamming the gears (rowing your way down the track or road), then the M6 is the way to go. If that is what you want, then go with it.

However, automatics with electronic PCM control and high-tech converts can be “deadly consistent” and hard to beat bracket racing. Count the number of cars at bracket race with autos and manuals, and you may find one or two out of 100 cars with a manual. Once you add a trans-brake, the auto will out perform any manual.
