ATI Transmissions?
ATI Transmissions?
I have a 93 T/A that's setup for street/strip (more strip) and I wanted to put a fresh Trans in it, it has a 4L60 currently and i dont think it will hang when i put the blower on. I am pretty sure that I am going to go with an ATI TH-350 ($770) with a manual valvebody and a TCI 3500-4000 stall. Anyone have any experience with ATI transmissions? Before I was thinking of going with a local builder but I don't really trust local shops and now I feel as if the extra money for an ATI would be worth it for piece of mind. Also is directly through ATI the best way to buy one, does anyone know if they offer any discounts?
my roommate has a ATI th400 in his 87 formula with a sc'd 406.
he got the trans 4 years ago and it's just now starting to act up,been bhind this combo for a year, was behind a 650hp setup for about 2 years before that.
He bought it directly from them,as they are only 2 hours away.
dont know about discounts, they sometimes do have sales on parts.

Thanks for the info. I am going to call them and get their opinion.. do you know to what level they built the transmission? I also guess I will ask them what they think of between a th400 and th350. I really don't want the th400 for the weight/drivetrain loss but the motor I am using did put out 540rwhp before with a blower on it.
i have "heard" that a TH350 is good till about 650-700hp,but there have been some advances in parts since then.
i would say it's a "competition" build,full reverse manual vb,no trans brake.
they might recommend a th400,but hard to say.
