Talking Anyone use the straight crossmember from Spohn with Pacesetter Y

So, I have the pacesetter longtubes on my 95 bird. I got the spohn adjustable torque arm, with the front crossmember bent down for headers. IT all fits fine, but I am sick of bottoming out all the damn time, expecially in the Mall of America parking ramp. It looks to have enough room to try to run the straight crossmember... so it doesn't bend down, and still run the Pacesetter y pipe. Anyone try this? Is it too close??
Thanks
Cody

That's what I have now. No problems although it's a close fit.

oh sweet! I wonder if Sphon sells just that piece? I am sick of bottoming out on crap, so I want that straight peice. It looks like it would fit, tight yes, but should fit. So Im glad you have it working!
Thanks for the reply.

oe of my friends had sphon torqe arm with the bend down for the y-pipe and he had clearance issues. we had to bend the y pipe to get it to clear. it was not a pacetter y though. just look at the crossmember and try and imagine it was straight. try holding somthng over the dip and see if there is enough room. if the y tucks up nice i think it would work.

Maybe you can modify yours and make it work. With a little know how and some good welding you could probably save some money.

Yes, the pacesetter Y tucks up very nice, and I did put up a straight piece to see if it would clear, and it was very close. I know it would clear, but I dont want it to be so close that it rattles either. That would be ghetto. lol. But Im gonna see if I can buy just the piece, and see how much it is. I would rather trade someone for a straight one if they have a y that doesn't tuck up nice...

Here's an early Spohn "straight" front mounting bar, with a 3.8" driveshaft and a 4" Mufflex I-pipe. Took just a bit of hammering on the tunnel sheet metal to make it fit.

First, yes Spohn sells just the cross member..I ordered one with the dip to replace my straight across one last year when we went with the TDs...Anyway, previous to the TDs I had the Kooks Y pipe which also tucks up high enough to use the straight bar, but it was close...We ended up taking a good muffler hanger and bent the rod portion to fit the contours in the front of the Y pipe and welded it in place then bolted the other end thru one of the stock holes for the stock mount TA in the tailshaft of the trans, which lines up perfectly...This kept it up and off of the straight cross bar, and added some rigidity to the whole system and stopped any rattling...I don't have pix of it and its no longer on the car...Hopefully I described it well enough to figure it out..

holy crap Fred. That is awesome! What driveshaft is that?? Also, that is quite the exhaust setup, if you got that to fit then I should not be worried about my little 3 inch pacesetter setup. LOL.

And thanks Alan. I think I have the visual of what your talkin about... but I will have to wait until spring when I get my car out to look at it. I like the idea of rigidity. I have a little bit of a rattle, but not too bad...
