Any 4L60E Experts Here?
My car has 99,000 miles, my trans. has a cooler, it's flushed yearly and works great.
Here's my question:
When the trans. does go, what's done to make it stronger in order to handle a large torque converter and more power going through it?
What does a "built" transmission consist of?
How long the the 4L60E usually last in a lightly modified car like mine and what are telltale signs that it's about to go?
I'm asking these questions now, so when this trans. finally gives out, I'll have a gameplan for it instead of having to make a shotgun decision about it when the time comes. I'll probably wait until something happens to modify it because I want to get my money's worth out of a good trans. now instead of modifying it so soon.

It goes into some detail about problem areas in the stock 4L60E's. You can also check out my web site in my signature to find some of the modifications we do to make the '60E work and last.
