All automatic guys !!!! A4 guys !!!

I just got a 94 Z A4 this past saturday, previously i had a 93 Z M6
with minor mods like a throttle body ,cold air , hypertech, flowmasters. The 94 is stock except for flowmaster, What can i do to get optimum performance from my A4 i've seen B&M shift kits and what not are they worth it? and i ve heard people programming their a4's to shift at certain rpm's , what rpm is this? I just want to know anything about my a4 that i should know that can effect the performance of the tranny.

A big cam and a stall will work wonders for your car. Get the heads ported if you got the $$.

Gears really wake up the A4 cars, a nice 2800 stall (or so) and some 3.73s and you'll think you added 2 cylenders.

not to be raining on anybody's parade, but wht would you have him increase his firmness on the shifting, presure thru the transmission lines, i've read alot of horror stories from people that did do this and they prematurly wore out
the transmission...................

I didn't see a single person that recommended upping the line pressure. Everyone recommended gears, stall, shift kit, etc. Which are the right ways.

Back on subject. I have a 95 Z A4. I have 3000rpm stall, transgo shift kit, and 3.73 gears and my car is a monster outta the hole. I'm going back to 3.42's probably because I'd like to run NO2 sometime within the next year. If your looking to just firm up your shifts. Go with a shift kit. Be careful though, without a stall converter(which are know for making the shifts "sloppy") your car will shift extrememly extremely hard. It will be very abusive to all the drivetrain parts, not to mention your neck. A stall converter helps to smooth some of that out. They both work well off each other for a perfect combo.

Well the first thing you need to do is get that tranny flushed, refilled and add a trans cooler. I got a B&M cooler from summit, it's rated for 24k lbs and only cost about $55. From what I've seen and heard if you keep the tranny cool that will go a long way to keep it from breaking down on you.

Ohh yeah that's for reminding me. I can't believe I forgot to add that. Tranny coolers are so cheap and easy to install you'd be an idiot to not get one. Just about the best insurance you can get for a tranny.

Doesn't adding a shift kit or upping the shift firmness do just that?

A tranny cooler and a Transgo shift kit. Also, if you can, go ahead and put a 2800 stall converter in.

By the way - Do not use the cheap B&M module that allows you to select different shift firmness'. It will trash you transmission in short time.

I put a Vigi stall in my 93 which I bought from Nick (Texas Tech TA), he said it was a 3200 but it flashes at around 3500 in my LT1, it was agreat mod. I daily drove the car and its a ton of fun.

Only down side, if you get a stall you'll be needing headers BAD, stall feels great and runs great but I cringe at the fact the cars chocking on those stock manifolds and cat. If you do a big stall, long tubes and a set of gears like 3.73s, its like driving a different car. Then do a little suspension work, car will run 12s on tires and skinnies.

increasing the pressure in the transmission by programing the computer for it is very bad for your transmission. the computer is supposed to compensate by relasing pressure when you start to spin teh trans faster.... well the computer does a crappy job and you can blow stuff out like seals... thats what leads to the pre mature wear.

Vaccum modluation is the way to go along with a shoft kit.

if you disagree..... call LT1 Dave or FLP... they will tell you the same!!

My tranny blew last week, i had mine rebuilt and adding the trans go shift kit. I don't have the $$$$$ to get the vig stall yet, i'll get that when i have the cash, but which stall do u recommend for my '94? i've heard of problems with stalls over 3000. would a 2800 or 3000 be ok with no shift problems? going with either 3:42 gears or 3:73's currently have 3:23's anybody out there can help me out 2?
