are all 4L60E's the same?
i bought a used 4L60E for 60 bucks from a 93 sonoma..just curious..will this work on my 95 trans am..im doing heads/cam converter and i wanna put a big converter in my tranny..but i wanna make sure i can use this one as a spare
Re: are all 4L60E's the same?
F-body 94 4L60Es are different from 95-97 because it didn't have PWM.
LS1 F-body 4L60Es will not work in an LT1 car.
Corvette 4L60Es are completely different.
Not sure if the Sonoma one will work. Are you sure it's not a 4L60? 93 F-bodies had 4L60s in 93.

The internals, like clutch packs, pressure, and a few other things are built for the specific engine/vehicle combination. You can have the trans rebuilt to F-body or Vette specs or even stronger. That's probably a good deal.
Sonoma/S10 4.3L V6 trans has same flywheel housing bolt pattern as SBC, but it doesn't have the capability to upshift into OD at wide open throttle. This can be fixed during the rebuild. Transmissions for the 2.8L/3.1L 60 degree V6 have a different bolt pattern.
IOW, if it's a 4.3L V6, two-wheel drive transmission, you have a good core.
