Exclamation ABS INOP Light and Speedo Calibration Problems after rear swap...

Experts, I need help badly...

This weekend a few friends and I swapped in a built 10 bolt with an Auburn Pro Center Posi and Richmond 4.10's...

Install went great, and it test drives real nice. I use PCMForLess for my reprogramming. I loaded the new program onto the car and it seems as though the shift points are calibrated correctly...

However, the speedo is still reading way high. I talked with Bryan, and he is looking into it, but seems to think that my program is correct. We even tried loading a new one with gear correction a few times.

Also, a few weeks ago, I put in a 3000 stall converter. I wasn't able to test drive it after the stall, so I donno if that had anything to do with it messing up. The only reason I mention it is because while dropping the tranny, I suppose we may have messed up the speed sensor, though I highly doubt it. I doubt it because the speedo calibration error is consistent, like a calculation, rather than sporatic like a bad sensor.

I did a datamaster log, and Bryan is looking into it today. I'll probably try reprogramming again tonight to get it figured out.

The second issue that I have is that the Auburn Pro Center was installed without the ABS speed sensor gear, because of fitment issues or something (I bought the rear slightly used: 8k miles) Anyways, rather than leave the top of the differential open, I did put the ABS sensor in it to plug it, even though I knew it wouldn't work. I don't care if my ABS doesn't work, since I have never had to use it anyways, but the ABS INOP light is on now all the time. Is there a way to get that to shut off (i.e. disconnect sensor, pull fuse, etc) or do I have to completely delete the whole ABS system in order to get rid of that computer thing. If so, where is the ABS computer located?

I'd appreciate any help or suggestions you guys can make. I'm going to put it up on ramps tonight (weather permitting) and make sure the speed sensor on the tranny is plugged in... Would the speedo even register if it wasn't???

Thanks in advance...

Garrett

sorry, but what does that mean?

you weren't very descriptive. I'm fairly sure that I don't need the ABS ring. My ABS just will not function. I am going to be removing the whole ABS system soon anyways.

I'm more concerned with the speedo than the ABS light... any suggestions about that?

You have to have the ring to work the speedo its also a speedo ring as well.

Are you sure you aren't referring to the VSS system. I was told by the guy who does my programming that the ABS gear in the differential has nothing to do with the speedometer. He said it's a totally different system with it's own computer. The speedo runs off of the VSS gear on the output shaft of the tranny. It has the electric sender from the tailshaft up to the PCM. That gear is intact, but I donno if the sensor is hooked on right. I had to fix my other car tonight so I didn't get to check on it. I will check on the Z tomorrow to see if the VSS plug is seated correctly...
