A4 what fluid?? B&m or RP or reg ???
Re: A4 what fluid?? B&m or RP or reg ???
REally??
So it is RP that is causing the problem....
Other people tell me its my trans but it doesnt make sense because it shifts
nice when it wants to and all I have to do is pop it into neutral and then OD when it wont shift from 2nd to 3rd and it will solve the problem. I get paid this weekend so If i have enough money left over I will drain it out and let
write back and let you know how it performs...

According to an independent analysist, Royal Purple has never had a good reputation with their automatic tranmission fluid for late GM units in the long run. Analyzing oils is all he does, and does not care who is the best, but what is best. It has been a couple of years, bur according to his last results, the Amsoil & Redline are the best synthetics, with Mobil (Aamco dexron III) being one of the best of the non-synthetics. I hope this helps.

Wow Thanks A lot for the information!
I wish I would have done some research on it first before I purchased that but I figured it was RP and it was a tad more expensive so it had to work well. No more RP for my baby

Whats your take on B&M trick shift??
Re: A4 what fluid?? B&m or RP or reg ???
By the way,
I have used B&M trick Shift Synthetic and it worked well on a tranny fluid change and I never experienced the problem i am experiencing now. WHen I changed my tranny fluid with B&M I still had the OEM tranny. Now that I changed my tranny fluid with RP syn it has this problem and this is now with my rebuilt tranny!
I know you asked "D" for an opinion but I thoughT id share my experience if it helps...sorry for butting in

Re: A4 what fluid?? B&m or RP or reg ???
i think it took around 8 quarts to get my th350 up to operating level, then we topped it off with a couple quarts of B&M to get the aux. cooler and pan filled up. it shifts awesome, either in drive or manually shifting, and i haven’t even messed with the vacuum modulator yet. as for using it in a 4l60, i had a gasket break and spill fluid all over the ground. we towed it to quick lube and had the gasket replaced and the tranny refilled with the Hurst equivalent of the B&M trick shift, the transmission lasted about a month after that, then i lost the 2-3 clutch. had to get it rebuilt, and this made the second time. the shop said they thought it was a bad front pump from the first rebuild but they couldn’t be sure because everything looked burnt up. alot of metal shavings. i don’t trust anything but the stock recommendation on a electronic tranny, but i guess I’m paranoid after $2k worth of tranny rebuilds.

For those reports of slippage when putting in RP or other synthetic is that it's mixing with the conventional oil. A 4L60E contains just over 11 quarts of tranny fluid (according to Chilton's) and a simple tranny pan drain will change 4 quarts. Thus, pouring in synthetic into the tranny will mix the oil types and possibly cause an incompatibility problem where the oils do not want to mix with each other?
Re: A4 what fluid?? B&m or RP or reg ???
The B&M Trick Shift is type "F" reworked. The type "F" fluid was when they used asbestos in the clutches, & that has not been the case since 1977. Type "F" is a good fluid for a static clutch (neutral to drive), but not very good in dynamic situations (where shifting occurs). There is more to it than this, but this is the simplified explanation. If you have a Borg Warner model type 35 transmission, then type "F" will work.
Re: A4 what fluid?? B&m or RP or reg ???
i second that question if you bring it to jiffy or a smiliar place to do a trans oil change will they change all the oil or just pan oil? cause i was thinking of buying the correct dexron and giving it to a place to change
