A4 Problem when Changing gears

Hi I have a 94T/A A4 with 2.73 gears. I been having problem shifting my car from Park to Drive or Neutral or Reverse. There is a white switch which moves up and down as go from one gear to another. On mine that gets stuck. And I do have to carry a niddle nose sometimes to make sure it's up all the way. The car really doesn't do it when it's warmed up but when it's cold it does it. Also it's very hard to push it to make it go for you to change the gears. I have been told that it can be the mechanism or the spring for the switch. What do you guys think. Any help is greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance.

Re: A4 Problem when Changing gears

if you have a buddy with a camaro i would compare both shifters i found that being the easiest if you live in a town where theres no mechanics,
i would also check by the tranny where the shifter cable hooks up at the transmission i remember having a loose bolt 4 years ago just a couple of suggestions .

other wise try talking to a transmission specialist like frank he'll probably have a few suggestions. click on the adress bar on my sig that will take you to his website his a cool person that will help. good luck bro
