A4 to M6 swap, won't go into gear while running
Nearing the end of the A4 to M6 conversion, finally got the car running but the trans won't go into gear with the car running, just grinds when I try. It will go into every gear fine when the engine is off. We tried bleeding the system following the instructions in the shop manual and now, not only will it still not go into gear but it grinds when I push the clutch in.
Brand new clutch kit and pilot bearing btw. Flywheel was also resurfaced.
What the hell did I do wrong? Is the trans junk? Maybe i damaged the clutch somehow? I figure the clutch isn't disengaging but no idea why

Nope. Torqued all 6 to 22 lb-ft as per the helms manual and double checked.
Did this twice
put it all together once minus actually bolting the trans to the bellhouseing (couldn't get the fugger in there), saw a bolt off to the side that looked like a pressure plate bolt so I took the bellhousing off to make sure I had them all in there, which I did, but I noticed I put this pilot bearing in backwards.
So...got a new pilot bearing and put it all back togther again and now this
. Note: bolting the trans to the bellhousing was a royal PITA and this was all done outside of the car.

Messed with it a little today and was able to get it into a couple gears (not first). It was a pain but I did it, although when I started to let the clutch out it would grind and then pop out of gear.
