A4 to M6 conversion SES light
A4 to M6 conversion SES light
I did the conversion several months ago.
I have a SES light and a code that says Cags.
I remember seeing a post about some guys getting a light eventhough the install guide says you shouldn't.
How did you guys fix this problem?
I have called LT1 edit and it cannot be programmed out. I also tried the CAGS removal where you take out the number 13 pin from the Black plug in and that didn't get rid of the light either.
Thanks

Re: A4 to M6 conversion SES light
If you can edit it, then program it out of operating tempurature. In other words, make it where the car has to be 300 degrees before it works. Also, you might try putting a resistor in the harness plug if that doesn't work.

If you want, you can email me your current file and I'll edit it for you.

Re: A4 to M6 conversion SES light
I ran my 94 for 4 years with the harness connector disconnected. The PCM always showed DTC 84, but the SES light never came on. As far as I know, the SES light isn't supposed to come on for DTC 84 in the OBD-I setup. Are you sure you don't have another code in there that is causing the SES light?
Pulling the wire of pin B13 isn't going to eliminate the code. The PCM is looking for a resistance between that gray wire and the brown wire that supplies 12V to the skip shift solenoid. You have to put the 2.2Kohm 1/2 watt resistor between those two wires to eliminate the code.

Re: A4 to M6 conversion SES light
I used Free Scan to check the codes and that is the only one that showed up.
I had heard the DTC 84 isn't supposed to set a light.
I posted this because I have seen some posts in the past that guys were getting a SES light after doing the M6 conversion and they claimed is was related to CAGS.
Maybe it's possible that Free Scan is missing something but I didn't have a light until I did the swap. I may have to scan it with auto Xray or something to double check

Re: A4 to M6 conversion SES light
ok I scanned the car today with a snap on Scanner and the only thing that showed up was
DTC 84
DTC 91
I really want to get this SES light taken care of.
Any help would be great
