I disagree. My 4.10s pull harder than my 2.73's did at any rpm and/or speed. A 2 gear drop with 2.73's is roughly the same thing as a 1 gear drop in 4.10's, both will land you at about 4000rpms right in the meat... The 2 gear drop of the 2.73's takes longer too...

I have 4.10s in my A4, and love them. My dad has 373s in his z and on the highway we cruise at almost the same rpm, the reason being i have 18's on the rear. But from a stop the gears will pull like crazy. Go with the 410s you wont regret it one bit.

If you are seriously looking into doing a gear swap, I highly recommend the Thunder Racing gear package. You get your choice of gears, a t/a girdle and stud kit, install kit, fluid, and additive.

with 3 series carrier, they are $400 total, and with 2 series carrier they are $435 total...

I'm more conservative and I would say 3.73's with an auto. I like the shift points and they way it carries 2nd gear.

Like if im going i guess about 40 or and punch it it takes about 2-3 seconds before you feel the powerband come in to play or like a flat spot nothing that slams you back all over again, but how would that feel with 4.10's compaired to 3.73's

The 4.10's are installed!!!

I can't tell you guys much about how they work yet, because OF COURSE, it's raining!!!

What I CAN say is this:
  • They're Richmond 4.10's, built for a 3-series carrier (originally a 3.23 diff).
  • They only whine a little bit (hardly noticable) on acceleration. Not even half as bad as my 3.73's whined last year.
  • They do not whine at all while cruising or decelerating.
  • At 80 mph, 4th gear and lock-up, the revs are about ~3100 RPM!!!
  • Under light acceleration, the transmission is into 4th gear and lock-up by about 40 mph!!!
  • Even in the rain, traction doesn't seem all that bad surprisingly, however I just got new tires on Friday.
  • I can't wait for some dry roads to really try these out.....I think they're going to haul a$$ off the line!
  • I really can't wait to get to the track.....I'm going to get E/T Streets this year, so hopefully 1/4 times will drop a lot.
