A4, 3:42 to 3:73, worthwhile & what brand

Looks like I have some rear-end work coming up, suspect its the pinion bearing going again.... Anyway since I'm opening it up is a swap to 3:73's worthwhile?
How's the highway rpm and effect on gas mileage? Last what is a good brand to buy and who from, 2 series carrier, want the quietest set-up. GM ?

Thx

If you want quiet, GM gears are the way to go. Back when I had an A4 with 3.73's, I seem to remember my rpm being about 2k @ 55mph and 2850 rpm at 80 mph. Now that I have an M6, the rpm is 1500 rpm @ 55 mph and 2000 rpm at 80 mph
I'm not to sure on the mileage effects because I did headers and gears at the same time, so it was downhill from there

I would defiantely say 3.73's are worth it and like said before GM will be your best bet for quality and quietness.
