97 A4 Tranny fluid question

I have a 97 Auto Z and am planning on changing the tranny fluid this weekend.( pan drain and filter change) But i was wondering if I should by a genuine filter from Chevrolet or if the AutoZone special is just as good? Also should I buy genuine GM Tranny fluid as well? Do they even make it?

Thanks

Try a local trans shop. Many will sell you the parts to service yours. Look for a SPX /Filtrans filter. They're made by Sealed Power. We use them in all of our builds.

Don't buy a cork or rubber pan gasket. A trans. shop should carry either Durapreme, or Farpak.

Transmission fluid? Go to your local NAPA dealer and get 6 quarts of NAPA brand Dexron III/ Mercon. You'll probably only need 5, but get an extra, just in case.
