95 Z-28 Rear End?'s
95 Z-28 Rear End?'s
I have a 95Z with a stroker motor being built right now. For now the only power adder will be nitrous, later I want to put afr heads on and a supercharger with alot of boost. Due to the fact I have to break in the engine and clutch I figured I should just put a new rear end in and break everything in at the same time. This is where the problem comes in (there are so many choices). Right now I work at a Mustang Restoriation shop. My boss said I could have any core 9inch rear end I wanted and I could build it. Thus meaning stripping the rear end to the housing, buying brackets from currie or moser welding them on, narrowing the rear end, putting 35spline axles in, some sort of posi, new ring and pinion, new bearings, and new seals. The only thing I would use from the core rear end would be the housing and the third memeber. I could also buy a 9inch housing new from currie or moser and build it my self. I don't want to buy a complete 9inch due to the price (I can build one for less). Since I might buy a 9inch and have to put brackets on it I though I could put some sort of 4-link rear suspension in with coil overs. Has this ever been done in a 4th gen? I am not worried about putting abs in the car. My only worries with putting the 9inch in are messing up the computer due to not having an abs sensor. I guess since the sensor wouldn't be connected it would just not send a siganl to activate it, though the abs on the front disc would be connected. Can this be done? When a 9inch is installed do you lose abs completely or do you just lose it on the rear disc? Can you put the stock disc brakes on a 9inch rear end? I also though about just putting a 12bolt in made from Moser or Strange. Which is stronger or are they equal? How much power can a 12bolt handle? I don't want to install a 12bolt then add more hp and end up blowing the rear end and having to spend double to put a 9inch in. I would rather put a 9inch in the first time if you think a 12 bolt couldn't handle the power I should make later.
Sorry for the long post, I have alot of unanswered ?'s.

Re: 95 Z-28 Rear End?'s
have you thought about an 8.8?...the 9 inch soaks up a lot of power respectively, it is very strong yes, but thats because its just huge, it was meant for trucks...when installed in a car its pinion angle gets messed up, which could lead to easier breakage and wear, not saying it'll happen, just a higher chance
