94 Z Automatic Trans question

I have a 94 Z LT1 engine with automatic transmission. I'm embarrassed to to say that I have never had the transmission serviced and have probably not done the best job of checking the levels either. It has 125k miles on it.

I was planning to have the transmission serviced but was told that it may be the best thing not to do anything as it may stir up problems. The transmission seems to be working fine, although I should add a little fluid. What do you think? Should I or should I not service this and if so will a local chain shop like AAmco, Pep Boys etc do a suitable job or should I take it to a private shop that may specialize in this work.....thanks

I have heard the same thing from a few different people .
maybe you can just change the filter and only replace the fluid that was in the transmission pan ??

Go ahead and get it serviced since you say it has bo problems. New fluid, filtter and gasket will be good to go. The shops you mentioned might find something major with it (beware of AAmco). Try to find a good local shop that someone recommends

Since this isn't really an "Appearance" topic, let's move this to "Drivetrain"
