94 LT1 4L60E slipping badly

Newbie here. Quick to the point. Got the above-mentioned problem. Car has 189K miles and transmission is slipping more and more each time I drive it. When in OD it is very hard to pull out. When in D still quite sluggish. Seems better in 2nd to get started but any aggressive pedal will cause noticeable slippage and neutral-like rpms. When going about 55mph it "searches" for a gear to be in and will rev up and rev down obnoxiously.

Add'l info - when I bought the car I was informed that there was a 4L60E transmission from a truck put in the car because the original tranny died.

So, my main question is this. Since this is my daughter's first car I just want to do a stock rebuild. Is this something I should be able to handle myself? Is the hardest part getting the tranny out of the car? I put a Trans-Go shift kit in a 700R4 years ago and it seemed surprisingly simple. Does this compare to the 700R4 Trans-Go job? Any recommendations on 4L60E rebuilt kits?

Thanks for any and all input,

Greg
