I think the trans in my 94 Firebird is going out. The transmisons grinds and slips as it is shifting gears, almost getting stuck in between gears. Would I be able to use a 94 transmision out of a truck. I can find plenty of those at local salvage yards but no 94 camaro transmisions. Also I considering rebuilding the trans my self. Is this possible/practical. I have built almost every other part on a car at one point or another (engine, rear end, ect.) but never a transmison.

I think the transmission in you car is a electronic 700 R4 but I could be wrong.
If you get one from a salvage yard I would check all you electric connections to make sure they match up.
Check the length of the tail shaft you should be able to swap the back tail housing so you would be able to put it into an F-body as long as it's the same length.
I never mess with transmissions you do need some special tools to work on them.
The best thing you can do is take the transmission out and take it to a shop to have it rebuilt.
That's what I have done.
I've been lucky enough to find people by me that are honest.
