93 M6's faster?

Ive heard that the 6 speeds in the 93 had better ratios which made them somewhat faster then other lt1 m6's. Any truth?

I'm relatively certain that to get the M6 with the 3.36 ratio (I have one), you had to order it with 2.73 gears. After '93, you could only get 2.73 gears with an automatic.

I believe that the torque rating was also 400 ft/lb vs. 450 ft/lb for later M6 transmissions.

M28 had 2.73's from the factory, M29 had 3.23's from the factory. 94+'s had 3.42s. M29 is the most deseriable of the 93's.

Thats not true you could get 3.23's in an auto too. 2.73's had the first gear lockout on the shifter but you could just cut it off and then be able to select first..

Re: 93 M6's faster?

Yeah the 93's with the M29 with 3.23's were just a hair steeper overall than the 94+ with 3.42's. I have 93z with the M29 with 3.73's and it's just slightly steeper than a 94+ with 4.10's. Although in 6th gear on the higway I am at higher revs than the 94+ with 4.10's due to the 6th being a .62 versus a .50.
