700r4 transmission governor gear help

O have a 93 camaro v6 and I've been trying all day to pry the cover over the governor gear off but it will not budge is there a trick to this

Carefully take a wide screwdriver or wide chisel and tap it with a hammer around the lip. Put a little sealant around the lip when you reinstall it.
