700r4 Questions

1) How do i tell exactly which 700r4 i have? Like is there any type of identification to tell between the 27 spline and the 30 spline transmissions?

2) My shifter seems very hard to shifter between the gears. I had it apart and it seems to be the actually cable coming from the transmission. Is there any way to make the cable easier to shift i.e. lithum grease or something?

What year is your car and is it the original trans? And replace the cable.

No its not the original trans. Car was a v6 had a v8 swap plus the last guy had to replace the trans once while he owned it so no telling what kind is in it. Are there any parts numbers i could look at and identify which i have?

Look on the passenger side of the transmission right above the pan rail near the rear, there will be a flat spot with numbers and letters. The very first digit will tell you the year of the transmission. 4=1984, 8=1988, 1=1991, etc.
