700R4 problems! Stuck in gear.
The car is an 1989 350tpi with a 700r4.
I put the car in park and I felt it drop into reverse. I turned the car off and then went back out and started it. I put the car in drive and it did not shift from reverse to drive. It is stuck in reverse. The shifter moves, but the transmission doesnt shift.
The car starts althought its in reverse. The tach is stuck at 7000rpms(max). When the car is turned off the car will roll, eventhough it is in reverse. Also when I towed the car home there was a little bit of tranny fluid leaking.
Im guessing maybe the linkage came disconnected from the tanny, I have not looked at the car and I am hoping that somebody will be able to tell me what is going on.
The transmission was rebuild about 2 years ago, so I dont think the transmission is shot.
