Mega Monster 700r4 tranny. Is this a viable tranny for an lt1?

Not for your car. Only 93s use the non-electronic 700R4s. 94+ cars used the 4L60E (similar, just electronically controlled).

Monster also has a very poor reliability and track record. I'd go with Performabuilt - they make some beast 4L60Es.
