Re: 6L80E tranny conversion

From what Ive seen on the other boards it wouldnt even be worth the hassle on a LTx car. If I had a LSx I would do it.

If it is made to bolt to an LSx engine block, it won't bolt up to an LT1. That might help in the decision making department.

Could you explain why? An 80s 700r4 will bolt up to an Ls1... Why couldn't you take a tranny from an LSx and bolt it up to any gen i, ii smallblock.

YOU CAN PUT A GEN 1 OR 2 TRANSMISSION ON A GEN 3 OR 4 IF YOU PURCHASE A CRANKSHAFT SPACER YOU WILL NEED AN LSX FLYWHEEL AND A NON-LSX TORQUE CONVERTER

YOU CAN PUT A GEN 3 OR 4 TRANSMISSION ON A GEN 1 OR 2 IF YOU GET THE CORVETTE VERSION OF THE TRANSMISSION AS IT USE THE GEN 1 & 2 1.703" PILOT HOLE FOR THE CONVERTER. YOU WILL NEED TO GET AN LS1 F-BODY BELLHOUSING

So basically if it mates up to an LSX than you're good, but LTX needs an LSX flywheel and an LTX converter (30 spline).

That's what I've gotten out of this so far.

IF YOU HAVE AN LSX ENGINE IT WILL BOLT RIGHT UP.

IF YOU HAVE A PRE-LSX ENGINE YOU NEED A CORVETTE 6L80E TRANSMISSION,
A LSX F-BODY BELLHOUSING, A 2007 2WD TAHOE TAIL HOUSING, A PRE-LSX FLYWHEEL AND TORQUE CONVERTER.

I was pretty sure the bolt pattern is not the same.

IT IS... ALL SBC AND BBC HAVE THE SAME BELLHOUSING BOLT PATTERN
THE LSX ENGINE IS MISSING THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE BOLT HOLE
AS IT RUN'S IN TO NUMBER 8 CYLINDER.

Hopefully they'll increase torque capacity of the 722.9 so they can mate it to the m275 sometime in the future. Should make the "65" models even more ridiculous.

Re: 6L80E tranny conversion

Yea, we have been waiting for the "type 9" (seven speed auto) to be put behind a blown or turboed AMG. The 65's have so much torque (more than 700 ft/lbs) that I don't think they really need 7 gears. I would like to drive an E55 with the 7-speed however. It looks like Benz is moving away from blowers on their new generation of V-8's. It seems as though everything will be N/A except the V-12's. I think BMW has been giving Benz crap about using blowers to get high HP.
