my car is poping out of first gear when it is very cold. sometimes when i try to speed shift into second it grinds really bad and won't shift at all until i just ram the **** out of it. could this be a sincronizer or a fork? not sure on the internals of a 5 speed. i've rebuilt a few powerglides so i think i can rebuild this myself. any ideas how hard it would be to rebuild or know what the problem is? thanks for takin a look any help would great.

 

Sounds like synchro problem to me. Either way, the tranny's gotta come apart. Manuals are quite a bit simpler than autos, just take it slow and take pictures of where everything goes if you have to. Almost all the moving parts will be on one main shaft. You'll need some snap ring pliers, but that's probably about it.
