Re: 5 speed lt1????

I don't know what it would take to make it work, but find a T56. They didn't put T5's in 3rd Gen 350's for a reason. I've heard of some guy's putting some serious power through them, but it's taking a chance. If you do it, make sure it's from an eight cylinder car. The T5 used in six cylinder cars is different, and rated for less power.

The power rating is one of the BIG reasons the T56 is the manual of choice, even the 93 and earlier T56 is torque challenged compared to the 94+ one, you get into the older stuff and it is even worse.

If you are paying $2500 for a T56 then you are getting hosed.

Do you mean you want to convert from an A4 to an M6? Or are you replacing a damaged T56?

I wonder how long a T5 would hold up behind a LT1

Check with the scrap yards that specialize in 4th Gen F-Bodys. They will put together a complete kit of the parts you need... clutch, flywheel, hydraulics, shifter, cross-member, pedals, console, wiring, etc. I think the going price is about $2K.

Re: 5 speed lt1????

well, that's just it, they START around $2K with some stuff missing, like pedals, and slave/master cylinder and little odds and ends, i was just wondering if it would probably be cheaper for me to just gather the parts by myself one by one, it would probably be cheaper, right????

im in no hurry, it could wait til next summer

Re: 5 speed lt1????

I bought my M6 conversion kit 3 years ago for $1500, everything included. I spent more money in getting a LT4 PP, clutch, shifter and gears. All done, I had about $2800 invested in the swap after programming.

My old threads about the swap:
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=175367
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=173581

It was very much worth the swap, too bad the tranny didn't last forever. Oh well, can't win them all...
