Cant give you exact measurements, but when I installed a 4th gen rear from a 97 SS on my buddy's 91 RS his stock RS wheels stuck out about a half inch on each side,(at the top of the wheel well)

You can overcome this by buying 4th gen wheels, and spacers for your front wheels.

A 4th Gen rear is 4" wider overall then a 3rd gen one or 2" per side for those that are poor in math.

The engineering drawings on the Strange website show the difference as 3".

I'm not challenging you... just trying to learn. I have always assumed the Strange drawings were correct, since the assemblies are supposed to be "direct" replacements. I'll dig a little deeper.

Thank you.

I believe it is really close to 4" wider (2"/Side) since my 3rd gen wheels were pushed out a lot.

Anthony something thats being over looked, 16 in camaro wheels are pushed out a lil bit to make them look even. unless you are running front offsets all the way around you will be ok. runnin gthe stock offsets will push youi out a small bit but not too much.
im running fron offset size all around on my formula adn it barely sits at the fender lip. but im also on a stock 9 bolt.
Zepher, are you running front offsets on the rear? thats what it appears to be. i have heard of many folks go with 4th gen rears and the width actually makes the car. i know the added width helps the look of my car.

Nope, those are rear offset wheels in the back. If they were front offset, they would be sticking out even more.
here is an image of my 86 Trans Am with the stock rear and 4 front offset wheels on all 4 corners,

here is another car, belongs to a friend of mine who put 16" aftermarket wheels on his 3rd gen with a 4th gen rear, same offset front and rear,

Also, 16" 3rd gen rear wheels are pushed in, vs the front wheels, this is Camaro and Firebird 16" wheels.

woah, didnt know they stuck out that much. i thought if a set of rear third gens were on a 4th gen the offset would be the same as 3g fronts all the way round.
guess not. was the rear on that second pic centerd being our cars like to scoot the rear over about an inch?
