thank you!! and from now on i will be using small caps.
i have a typing program that caps the first letter automatically for me and i got so tired of turning it off all the time that i just left it on.
i guess theres a problem with it because when i was typing the replys they looked correct until i hit the submit new post button then it wass all in caps
Re: 4L60E won't shift
as far as the trans problem goes, the pcm controls all the trans shifting and the line pressure and everything.
i would start with your wiring and make sure that all the proper signal wires are getting good connections and so on.
also, check all your grounds and power wires.
if i remember correctly theres like 6 power wires in the pcm harness, when i used the 1997 dash and interior harness with my 1994 pcm and engine harness there was alot of wires that had to be repinned under the dash.
i had crazy things not working that i had to figure out.
if you have access to the alldata or mitchell on demand you can get very detailed wiring diagrams and print them. thats what i had to do to finally fix my mess the correct way.
good luck on this i know it`s mind boggling

Any way thank you for clarifing the use of dollys.
To get to the point if you disconnect the transmission main connector and you have 3rd gear and manual 2nd. you have a electrical problem. Either no speed sensor signal or both solenoids stuck on. where are you? i'm around St. Louis. be glad to help. the TCM uses TPS, MAP & VSS as its main inputs to tell it what to have the transmission do. so if you have first gear with the car hooked up. 2nd and 3rd with it unplugged. I know the trans is capable of all gears. The 2-4 band is on in 2nd & 4th. The 3-4 clutch is on in 3rd and 4th. If you have 2nd and 3rd. the main items that need to work, do. A transmission shop should be able to scan it. (if you have an ALDL or OBD II connector.) \Maybe the wire harness rework is faulty. We just had a harness made for a 84 chev truck with MPI out of a camaro and it kept giving a Knock sensor code. The harness had the knock sensor wire put into the # 8 hole instead of the #9. I moved 1 wire and fixed it. My point is you need to see what the TCM inputs are. Is it capable of signaling the solenoids to go on or off. Tranzman

Everyone...THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all the replies. Let's leave out all the bashing and blasting and just post your thoughts on my problem....PLEASE!!!!
Plugged trans harness back in, Plugged in a scanner, cleared all the stored codes, took it rig for a test drive and only got code P1115 (Engine Coolant Temp. [ECT] Intermittant High Voltage). Don't think this code would have anything to do with the trans, but at this point, what the hell do I know. If I had a wiring or sensor problem, wouldn't I get those codes as well???
I am soooo baffled, I don't know what to do next.
tranzman, I'm in Portland, Oregon. Can you PM your phone number, I would really love to talk to you more about this.
Thanks,
Tim

What EXACTLY is the ALDL port? Is it the same thing you hook the OBD I readers into under the dash near the pedals? if it is, i have a cross between the OBD I and II, it won't read on an OBD I reader but doesn't have an OBD II port. So i thought this scan tool would help diagnose it for me. So what is up with the ALDL? and do you think i'd have to remove the ECU fuse?
