4L60E Trouble
I just got my 95 383 trans am with a 4L60E Tranny back on the road last night, i took it up the road for an easy test run and the transmission shifted through all the gears fine, so on the way back i pushed into the pedal alittle harder and the transmission seamed to hesitate to shif with the higher RPM. And if you turn the engine up high at all it takes way to long to shift you have to back out of it to get it to shift. Ive also got a TCI 3000 stall converter in it and a Trans go shift kit. along with A pcm tune from PCM for less but when i filled out the paperwork i told them to leave the transmission alone on the PCM side of things. Also on top of this **** storm the alternator wasn't charging when i took it for my first run and the battery voltage was very low, Do you think that the battery voltage being drained enough could have caused the transmission to shift like this or dose it sound like another problem? thanx for your time
Ok you sent the PCM out for work but told them to leave the trans setting alone . But does that mean no adjustment was made for the stall. If there wasn't then that could be the problem what some call "stall wall" . In addition to that yes low battery voltage can wreak havoc on how a 4L60E operates along with all oher functions in the powertrain , The all need adequate voltage to work right,
Thanx Performabuilt for your response, im looking into if they made anychanges for the stall converter, im just waiting to hear back from the company, i also just picked up a new alternator so tonight i will be able to give that a try, the voltage was definatly too low, to the point that the car was starting to break down from loss of voltage and i figure if the sensors needed to make adequate shifts are not getting the 5 volts they need maybe it could cause shis shift hold? i hope, if not ill have to dig deeper, i know the transmissions is not shot, it was a fresh rebuild that i ran befor the car was taken off th road it worked fine then and only has about 4000 km on the new clutches. thanx again for your peply
