Question 4L60E to T56 swap?

I want to do a T56 swap in my 96 T/A, and I'm having a hard time finding information on all the parts I'll need to do the swap. I know I need a clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, flywheel, shifter, pedals (which I can't find), 6 speed shift plate (can't find that either), master/slave cylinders, and obviously the trans. Am I missing anything?

I've checked out that site, and it is very helpful. I just have a few other questions following this quote from the site.

"T56 transmission, bellhousing, slave cylinder extension piece, clutch fork, fork t-stud, inspection cover, shifter, flywheel, pressure plate w/throwout bearing, clutch disk, clutch alignment tool. master cylinder with U-bolt, slave cylinder, reservoir
new roller pilot bearing
T56 tranny crossmember, tranny mount (can use A4 tranny mount - recommend LS1/1LE tranny mount)
exhaust mount, torque arm bracket, torque arm bushing (can use A4 TA bushing)
pedal assembly with all the switches and clip for clutch pedal
shifter console insert (replaces automatic shifter insert)
lower shift boot
bolts - bellhousing to tranny, flywheel, pressure plate to flywheel, slave cylinder nuts, master cylinder U-bolt nuts, inspection cover screws, lower shift boot screws. CAGs pigtail (not necessary), VSS pigtail (12101899), reverse lockout pigtail (12101857), reverse light pigtail (12085485). The pigtails are expensive, but necessary. Connectors for the pedals are not necessary.

1. Do new transmissions come with the bellhousing, slave cylinder extension peice, clutch fork, fork t-stud, inspection cover, & shifter?

2. I know that the LT1 master/slave cylinder is a one peice, pre-bled assembly from GM, so I'm assuming that it comes with the u-bolt and reservoir. is that true?

3. Should a dealership have the 3 pigtails needed, because I can't find them online?

Sorry for so many questions. I just want have everything before I tear into car. Thanks!

In answer to your questions:

1. NO. A new tranny will come by itself, and probably without any solenoids. I bought a rebuilt one from Six Speeds Inc and it came with no solenoids or switches.

2. If you order the hydraulics from GM, they will come as a slave cylinder, master cylinder, and reservoir connected ready to be installed. U-bolt is a seperate part.

3. A dealership will have the pigtails you need, but you should be able to find them online, definitely check ebay.

I did the swap not too long ago, and have my list of parts with GM part numbers and everything you will need. The afrashteh site is VERY helpful, but do not use his guide for wiring. You have OBD2, which is wired differently than OBD1. I have all the wires you need to splice written down somewhere (I think) and it is easier than it seems.

If you need any help, send me a PM. I am more than willing to help, as the swap can seem daunting at first. Getting all the parts is the hardest part IMO.

He asked what a NEW tranny would include, not a rebuild. A new tranny from D&D (basically and OEM replacement from Tremec) does include the fork, fork t-stud, bellhousing, shifter, switches, solenoids and slave cylinder extension piece and slave cylinder studs.

That's what I thought. I'm getting a brand spanking new tranny from a freind of mine. He and his dad own Prodigy Customs in Orlando. They just happen to be a Tremec dealer also. $2000 brand new in the crate! I love connections. I found the reverse light pigtail, and the reverse lockout pigtail, but the VSS was not listed. I guess I'll go to the dealer tomorrow and check with them.
