4l60e stuck in reverse
First of which let me give you a brief history of the small problems i have been having with my transmission. Starting about mid october the shifter began having problems with the button getting stuck while in park. Because I am a lazy college student I ended up just taking the console of and using a screw driver to pop it out of park from time to time. Then about two months ago io began haviong problems putting the car into park unless i jammed the shifter hard into park. Just as a safety precaution i end up using the paring brake all the time in conjuction with park.
Now on to the problem of the day, after coming home from school this morning i stopped to park my car and put it in park however it started to roll back so i applied the brake and tried again to jam it into park. However, this time i could feel it was still in gear so i gave it a little gas and it was in reverse. I then tried to move the car forward but no such luck. Tried every gear but nothing changed. I then just shut the car off just to see if i could restart it while it was in reverse and i could evn though the chilton repair manual states that i should not be able to.
After briefly reading a few post i checked the car for any excessive fluid leaks and readily noticible loose cables. There were none.
i applogize for the long post however i am trying to get some sort of direction of where to look for the problem. Also it is a 97 A4 formula
